The night before Ironman....

Posted August 27, 2005 06:13 PM

We've been in Penticton almost a week now. The big race is mere hours away - at 7am tomorrow morning. The Tri-Stars doing the race are myself, "Coach Carolyn" Gebbie, "IronJan" Frith, Alison "Big Mo" Keighan, her sister and honourary Tri-Star Jan "L'il Mo" Wales, and "Troyboy" Lanigan. IronJan did the race in 2003 (the year of the fires) and Big Mo, L'il Mo and Troyboy are all about to lose their Ironvirginity!! It's been an enjoyable week here in Penticton and, most importantly, the weather seems to be cooperating. It's been quite a warm week, but the forecast for tomorrow is for high 20's with cloud cover in the afternoon. A great improvement over the high 30's earlier in the week...

Our bikes were brought into the race site early this morning, together with our Swim to Bike and Bike to Run transition bags. All that remains is to have a light supper this evening and then to hit the hay and (attempt to) sleep until about 4am when the alarms are set to go off.

Wish us luck. I'll post a race report in a few days, after our return to Victoria, so stay tuned....!
